Rocío
started teaching when she was still a college student. She worked at
different educational institutions for three years (1989-1991) as a
teacher of English as a Second Language, English for Specific Purposes
and French as a Foreign Language. As a graduate student she tutored
several fellow students and professionals in Spanish.
Later on,
while employed at a company that provides Over-the-Phone Interpretation
(OPI) in the United States, she was in charge of developing and
presenting workshops on several aspects of Community Interpretation.
She performed these training activities for the company's personnel as
well as at universities and conferences as part of the company's
recruiting strategy.
Rocío has also been recognized as an expert in Technical Translation and Software Localization.
She has been invited on several ocassions to share her knowledge as a
paid consultant and as a speaker at universities and events. Among her
clients are traditional document translation companies wishing to
venture into the software localization field, interpreting agencies
that want to start offering translation, and groups of translators who
